I am in the middle of of making a kit myself. I don't think you would be able to buy the brackets and shaft separatly because of the welding that needs to be done on the car. Onece the two brackets are on (alternator bracket and starter bracket. You need to possition the shaft and tack it while on the engine. After tacking it in quiet a few places, you take it off and weld ther rest. Keep in mind that my setup will be just a bit different and will have the S/C mounted with the outlet pointing down, rather than on it's side and the outlet going towards the TB. Pat might have something else setup though...

      Here is the cost:

*Machine shop for shaft : $200
      Pulleys (vortech) : $100
      Rebuilt S/C (ebay) : $500 (payed a bit too much )
Scrap metal from work : FREE (although not worth more than $20)

I will be getting MSnS for Ryan soon and we all know the price on that and all the other things such as Millenia injectrors, your choice of BOV, fuel pump and so on...

      * I got a 22" long piece of sch 80 shaft. (O/D: 1 7/8" ID 1.5") and got the machines shop to bore each side (3/4" deepth from either end) to fit a 6004 bearing good for 18 000 rpm. I also had to get some 20mm shaft keyd at each end (3/16 key) about 3'' from either side to allow for pulley allignment. Also had to cut snap ring grooves in the 20mm shaft to act as bearing retainers. The $200 includes 20MM shaft and labour.

I think the kit that Pat had is a very good thought. I would def. buy one if I dint' know how to weld and fabricate. Not sure how much it will be. I think the price total cost of my setup will be about $1500. Including MS.

      That is just my $.02.

Good luck Greg 94 PGT Hope you bring it back to life.

Count me in, I have been asking Aldorin questions also and he always told me that he was too busy, but if you would hook us all up with some nice kits at a decent price, then there is no reason why we would not be intrested in one of these kits.

its prolly just going to be the kit then maybe some parts can be separate....if he offered a full kit with fuel intercooler etc....it would be too expenxive for probetalk id venture to guess.....

I would be interested but only thing is the wait time and when u need to get in contact with the seller/maker of the product makes it very ill and unpatient. Also how does the car preform when u witch the clutch off, is it as fast all motor or a lil slow becuz of the air going through the blower than hits the motor?

With megasquirt the car is fine when you switch it off......you just need a more aggressive tune and also leaner...

What about s/c direct to IM option?

Yes I would be interested, i was hopping mrspeed would be offering the direct to IM package. It was still in the prototype stage at the time, i figured it would raise reliability/dependability by removing the long shaft (less parts to fail).

BSspecialist - In the beginning it will just be the kits themselves with possibly a smaller pulley option (for more boost). I have considered offering other optional packages that would include an I/C (with the required piping), fuel management, etc.., but that is a future type of thing.

I want to get the basic kit going first, instead of getting too big too fast, because that is where problems start pop'ing up.

SeriousCutt - I am not planning on doing things the way Patrick did. He seemed to do his kits in a Bulk Buy way, where the money is collected then that money is used to start production. But in situations like that, it is very common to fall behind financially and then the problems of delivery start compounding and everyone suffers.

I plan on making a few kits (2-3, in order to gauge the real interest), in the beginning and then posting them for sale. So when the $$'s are sent in, the kit goes out right then and there. Everybody likes it better that way.

In regards to how the car performs when the S/C is off. All I have ever read is that the car drives normally with it off. At the very worst I could maybe see the S/C causing a tiny obstruction is the air flow to the engine, but I am talking about maybe the type of restriction a stock airbox would cause. What do we gain on these engines with an intake 3hp?? So in my eyes your looking at maybe a 3hp loss for daily driving around town, but then when you want that extra power, just flip the switch and get the real gains. I don't see the problem there. Don't forget these S/C were stock on Mercedes Benz's, and they were not running all the time, only when the cars PCM noticed the driver was getting on the throttle.

parmandx - I am not personally aware that Adlorin was developing that style S/C to IM combo, I was only aware of Geoff Knight having some kind of setup like that. I do see the benefit and that is an option I have considered and will explore in the future, but at this point there is no time frame that I could give you on that (from me of course)

Thank you everyone for all of your input, it looks like this transaction will be going forward and I will be offering these shortly. I just have some details to work out with Patrick and I will start working on these as soon as I can.

The best thing about this is that I recently sold one of my businesses that was killing all of my free time, and now I have time to dedicate on these.

Feel free to keep any comments coming in.

Really fabing out a S/C kit isn't hard at all with the right equipment-just make sure you don't sell what you don't have. In the past several people have tried to run a no risk business, rather than out of pocketing all the materials and having a finished product to sell as they advertised it and as the order was placed the vendors would take in everyones money-then buy the materials with that money, and hope that their suppliers would come through-and with any problems along that line everyone who paid sits with no product. So long as you plan on completing the kits before you take money for them you'll be in good shape.
Good luck, I'll be watching for your kit if you choose to produce one.

The only thing in the shaft that would fail is the bearings and those can be changed with relative ease....
