  • Eaton M62 Question

Knowing that the M62 only pushes a few pounds of boost with the stock clutched pulley which a stock KL (or mostly stock) will handle.

My question is with an under drive pulley on the m62 how many pounds of boost will it see? And I know with the under drive pulley on it deletes the idea of having the Eaton on a switch.

I was looking at some Mercedes sites and some guys get the pulley milled down to spin the blower faster and still have the clutch

When I was S/C with a 2.75" pulley on the supercharger it ran roughly 6-7psi. Stock Crank pulley. I made an overdrive crank pulley and was able to get about 9psi out of it, IIRC.

Interesting, but it doesn't bother me to not have the clutch. I was hoping there was a smaller pulley avail out there.

Is the 2.75" pulley the stock one or was that custom?

the 2.75 pulley was off of an alternator off of some random car at the junk yard, ha ha, but it is not the stock size. That pulley is only 2.36" diameter, which would add a decent amount of boost.

2.36" referencing the pulley in the pic you are talking about

okay awesome. Any chance you'd remember what kind of car it was off of? Or should I just go hunting at the yards and start measuring..lol

I reach 3.5PSI max on the stock pulley (2.25" pipes from SC to TB and 2.5" into SC). Ill will be fitting the crank overdrive this Christmas break but i have been told 6-7PSI (what Dueces mentioned). Keep in mind the maximum rpm of the SC which IIRC is 14,000rpm. If you intend on revving your engine to 7k you may be exceeding the safe max rpm.

Thanks Stroker. I do intend to shift at 7k, so I don't want to destroy the s/c by over revving it. Basically I'm looking to make about 250whp with the s/c, so that being said would 6-7 psi be safe for the s/c and put me where I want at the wheels? I'll also be running a maf swap with it.

Also have been thinking about porting the s/c to help make a couple more hp and help with air flow

250whp should be an achievable goal at 6-7PSI. im not that familiar with the MAF swap, can you run millS injectors? you may find the stock injectors dont have the legs for that kind of boost.

I am yet to test the exact rpm of the SC vs engine rpm on my car but i recall doing the calcs and vaguely remember at 7000rpm the supercharger pulley will be exceeding its maximum rpm with the overdrive pulley i have.

Ive looked at porting the SC myself and have found some info but decided to keep mine stock. Im sure its designed the way it is for a reason, and while you may be able to get some gains from porting it i dont think its really worth my time now days. I mean how much can you possibly gain? 1PSI? 5degC lower intake temps?
