  • Over heating.

    Symptoms.
    -Over heating
    -Blowing cold air
-Idling around 2k (not sure if that has anything to do with it just started with the over heating)

So at first thought im sure everyone is going to say the thermostat. I changed it already, took it back out and boiled it, its working fine. When it gets real hot The top hose if absolutly full of boiling hot anti freeze. The bottom hose is still cool. So then it leads me to believe its not circulating.

    I was thinking
    -Water pump
    -(E)ngine (C)oolant (T)emperature Sensor

    Any thought or ideas?
    Much appreciated, Thanks
    Willie.

Time to free willy. Take main cap off and run for 5-10 miles (with cap off) to purge air out off cooling system, then when temp stable put cap back on.

With as bright a flashlight as you have, point it at both of the coolant lines that run from the thermostat housing to the idle air control valve on the bottom of the throttle body. I would bet one of those hoses has either cracked, or has a loose connection. Look for leaks there in particular. Other than that, take a look at your typical coolant connections. Heater core hoses, thermostat housing, water pump, etc.

If nothing is leaking, then yeah, you might be able to get away with just burping the system.

Ya, ive got it running smoothly now, but i still have the crack in the housing as well as a drip, so im going to replace the house, and the gasket.

Any ideas where to get the housing?
