  • VAF connector problem

so i have this weird issue, where my connector to my VAF becomes loose or doesn't fully connect to the VAF. i have to start moving the VAF wire around to make a good connection, it's not the VAF unit; because i just recently replaced it. Any ideas on what can be causing this? I'm planning on pulling a wire harness from a junker and just cutting and splicing it; to replace my current connector.

it's causing an unbearable misfire when the connection becomes interrupted.

    i do have a cai

You can also twist the pins just slightly (after cleaning them with electronic aerosol cleaner) and they will make better contact. If all else fails, replace the pigtail.
I think I have a spare one laying around in case mine ever fails.

one of the connectors is loose in the pigtail. just replace the pigtail and all will be fine. you can also de-pin the pigtail and plug in each wire individually. thats how i have mine since i was swapping back and forth with the maf

Great... i will try and clean the pins with contact cleaner later, it's weird though because i have never had this issue before. i'm getting cel code 08, 10 because of the faulty connection. the pig tail will be replaced as well, as per the advice you guys have provided.

the wires feel stiff (no pun intended lol) and look old, and twisted.

you guys are great, thank you!! if all else fails i'll just convert it to use a MAF

you cant use the maf. but a new pigtail should solve your problems

i thought you can? there is a wrtie up on how to convert your vaf into a maf using the MIllenia items... you did it; it's in your sig lol

i'm going to be scouring the junkyard for a new pig tail soon.

It can be done on OBD1 by way of the Xtremthings custom conversion harness.
