Nicely done with your 323.. 
..but I hate to say if he learns to drive he should beat you.
The 250hp 320Nm R32 engine should nail your Mazda, theoretically 50hp and almost 80Nm more power should compensate the weight difference. It seemed like he didn't go very high with rpms. That "VR6" engine likes revs, you'll reach the peak power at 6200 but it has a good power curve up to 7000-7200 rpms.
