  • My 1984 TA still kills my 1993 GT

I love me 1993 Probe GT, but my 1984 305 HO Trans Am rear wheel drive car just kills that stock 2.5L GT engine off the start. Of course, it gets <14 MPG versus my 20+ with the Probe. Oh well, it kind of makes sense now.

rear wheel drive vs front wheel drive off the line...duh!! its going to be quicker out of the hole. but line them up at a 20 roll...then see which is quicker.

As some one who has owned both, I agree my 305 was first off the line, same for the 350 corvette motor I swapped in. HOWEVER from a roll and from about 35mph+ my Probe will and does walk most rwd v8s, like a dog.

I got a 96 Probe that gets about 20mpg too. I suggest a gentleman's wager that your TransAm would not beat my old Ford 2 1/2 liter v6.

That's OK if a RWD car is faster of the line, it just makes it more humiliating when the Probe catches up and passes them.

              1984 305 H.O. V8: 190hp/240tq, AWESOME!

my 88 wouldn't beat my probe....I've got a stretch of road on my old drive home that the camaro wouldn't even make 90 before the curve and the probe will be doing over 90.
