Granted, mine were spur gears with dog engagement, but helical gears with single or double synchros are similar in experience so at least you know what to look out for.

If what you mean is "after more than 5 years we still can't get a bulletproof transaxle for $500 or less" then you're SOL.
LOL! I've put over 2000$ on my tranny so far... I'd agree: there is no 'cheap' fix for our tranny.

Dreams get me a Evo 9 Tranny in my car.
Reality tells me I'm going to get the par gears, if (lol! WHEN!) my tranny kills my last 3 sets of 3rd and 4th gears. Say, hypothetically, that my tranny does destroy all the gears I have left (cryotreated makes them last longer for me, but it won't do miracles), should I get a whole set of PAR gears? Or just 3rd and 4th?

And Dave, those numbers are only correct with a Probe wheel/tire combo. The Mx6 has different sized wheels/tires so that changes things.

yes i know. mos tof us are still on stock or stock sized wheels

      • Fidanza makes axles for our cars that they rate "up to 300hp". Check their warranty - if they offer unconditional lifetime, or limited lifetime and you have a reliable dealer that you can do exchanges with, it may be worth a shot to those with mild turbo builds that break stock axles.

They're about $240 each (JEgs, etc). Much cheaper than the Driveshaft shop 400 hp axles (~$800) or 800hp axles 0~$1,100).

        Fidanza part numbers are:

        • Hi guys, came on over here from Mazdas247 forums. I also have blown up 3 transmissions and I am now on my 4th, except this time it's got all the bells and whistles. Complete PAR staright cut gearset and quaife diff. I'm hoping this will last. Here is a quick pic of the box:

If it doesn't last, then I amy have to look at options such as the toyota box or the F40 box...

I too have a full set of gears from PAR, I have the straight cut synchromesh gears, I went with gears 1-5 and changed the final drive gear as well. I however decided to go with the Mfactory lsd differential.

What options did you go with on your build and have you had an opportunity to put any miles on it yet and test it out?

                • I was thinking about doing a fairly cheap n/a build but I don't have any of the part numbers. I think the biggest hurdle for n/a performance is without a doubt 2nd gear. So from checking out different gear ratios from different cars, come to find out the 6 speed transmission from the 2010 mazda 3 has a nice gear ratio. And combine that with the MX3 5th gear and 626 final drive, the numbers would look like so:
                  1st 3.31
                  2nd 2.05
                  3rd 1.33
                  4th 1.03
                  5th 0.84
                  final 4.11

                  What do ya'll think?

I got the full kit, with new crown and pinion straight cut 1-4 but kept stock 5th gear. I have the needle rollers on all gears and the double sycnhros as well.

I have driven it, but have not done more than 500-600 miles on it yet.

Yes you do get gear noise, but nothing spectacular or deafening.

You can pull a 5th from a 2.0 probe/MX-6/626 for a taller 5th. This is what I did and am currently running with a 4.11 final (Also a 2.0 probe/mx-6/626). I actually have entire 2.0 tranny guts in a KL tranny.
I cant pm so I do it this way.

                      I have a klze with a k8 tranny .
I also have a FSDE tranny and i want to put the 5th gear frome the FS gearbox in to the k8 gear box .

But how must rpm wil the engine make less ?
                      Nou i drive 4k at 120 kmp .
The old mx6 gear box did 3500 rpm at 120 kmp .

                        • would a Straight cut 3rd gear from a bg gearbox fit a kf gearbox?
and is it 3rd gear thats common to go on the v6s?

Mx3 rear motor mount is your answer.

if it's a 4.11 and bolts up to the diff then it will work with mx6 internal shafts.
