  • Full Suspension Rebuild Thread

It's been almost two years since I first bought my PGT. I found out that my Probe is at that age where you can't just replace one part, instead you have to replace all of them.

I have been buying and collecting parts for about a year now and all I need are three more parts to complete the full setup. It's torture to look at all these parts just sitting in my garage.

I was hoping to have everything installed by Fabulous Fords Forever but that did not go as planned. I now want to get it done before the Angeles Crest Highway Cruise, but that might not happen as well due to the fact that I ran out of cash. All I need now is a new rack n pinion, a new power steering pump, and one more rear strut mount.

Anyways, here is a list of all the parts:
    Hankook Ventus V4 ES
    Tokico Illumina Shocks
    K Sport Springs
KYB Strut Mounts (all four corners)
Adjustable End Links (front & rear)
    LCA Poly Bushings
    All four Poly Engine Mounts
    Moog Tie Rod Ends
    Moog Ball Joints
    Timken Wheel Bearings
    Timken Wheel Bearings/Hub
    19mm Sway Bar
    Trailing Links
    Lateral Links
    Eibach Camber Bolts
Also have the CV Axles under warranty so I will be replacing those as well while I'm under there.

I will be posting pictures once I get a chance to start and document how much of a drop this set up gives me.

I was a bit anxious about getting started so I went to the junk yard and did this

Left all the parts in the trunk so that someone could use them if needed.

Definitely respect the Junk Yard Etiquette there

I think I would have purchased the rear subframe only and the bolts and pre-assembled it using all your new parts for a faster swap when it actually came to wrench time.

Wow the car is going to feel way different! And I really like your junk yard idea of leaving parts I would normally just throw away.

+1 on that, and thank you for it. Too many people hack things they don't need and needlessly ruin a ton of good parts.

Good idea doing it all at once as well. Good luck!

Thanks, I was thinking of buying the subframe but my wallet is way under weight.

I thought of that every time but then I tell myself that the parts I do not replace would just damage the new parts.

so tell me again why remove the sub frame and rear tie rods? i'm sure you know you'll have to re-align it when done.

nice work man thats quite the pile of parts you got! dont quite understand the last pic. did you bring al your old parts in a car at the junkyard? or did you go to the junkyard and disassemble a rear subframe on another car? if you brought all of them to the yard what are you gonna do about a subframe and spindles?
