  • heh, all this talk of taxes... I bought a house last year, so with the stimulus and whatnot, Uncle Sam paid my wife and me last year... not just a refund, but a refund of more than what we paid into fed income taxes. Don't mind if I do!

<AC DELCO distributor. Are you closer to the Vestal or Binghamton store?

Let me know, I know the manager in Vestal pretty well, I can set something out for you using friends and family discount.

                • Thanks maing...I actually don't need any parts at the moment, but I'll keep that in mind. I have the o2 sensor...I just need to actually locate the downstream sensor and do it.

And the beautiful thing about the GM 3.4 (at least in this particular van) is that the headers don't come down underneath the car to a collector...The front header comes off and to the SIDE where it routes beside the motor, and the collector is somewhere underneath the cowl. I can't even see it from up top or down low. Gonna be a fun one!

                  • Ok, if thats what you guys recommend doing, then I will just buy the whole peices.
Save time, and it wont have to be done for the life of the car probably.

                      • That's the same way on the lumina, Tom. The upstream should be in the rear manifold, just at the end of it where that cross pipe hooks in. I'm sure the motor is farther back in the firewall on that van so I'm sure you'll have fun lol.

I actually had to take that cross pipe off (well, I wanted to see where it was leaking from so I took it off) when I did the intake manifold gaskets this weekend. I might have a pic if you want me to through it up to give you a better idea of where it bolts to and such.

Thanks Hiney. And this right here is EXACTLY the problem. The firewall is farther back, tucked under the cowl...It's a real mess back there.

                            • I really don't think a Windstar would be any better. At least parts for her GM are cheaper... and you can find them everywhere.

                              • Them windstars have the 3.8 in them. They are an easy motor to work on and I've only heard bad things about the transmissions. Them motors last forever.

P.S. I just looked at the pictures and I didn't take any from that angle... Sorry.
