  • Not in my case, no. It takes quite a while for airflow to get to it, even when moving, since it's in the LIM (lower intake manifold) where it takes a while to cool...

It's probably in a better location on your car.

Yours is actually ideal, Tom. You are measuring the temp of the air for proper air/fuel ratios... If you measured it at, let's say the intercooler, it is going to pick up heat through the pipes, throttle body, plenum, and intake manifold... You measure it directly AT the intake manifold, just before it enters the combustion chamber.

Truthfully, your intercooler is working better than what the IAT says because it needs to cool that air beyond what the sensor is reading because it is heating up between the IC and IAT, guaranteed. Plus your water/meth is cooling it down, which the IAT SHOULD be picking up on a proper setup.

It's the same theory as pulling your boost levels as close to the cylinder/rotor as possible because It's the closest to "true boost/vacuum." You want your IAT as close as possible to acquire the "true intake air temp."

        • Yeah Hiney, I know mine is "ideal" because it really measures the TRUE IAT nearest the combustion chamber...I completely understand the concept behind it. Just sucks that it takes so damn long to cool down after heat soaking.

Oh, and Hiney, wanna hear something funny?? You may have already seen it on FB, but CJ ended up buying a Camaro.

I have to laugh, because in his FIRST post asking about "who has a car for sale..." someone popped up and had a Camaro, but he said he wasn't interested...

Just makes me laugh! I asked him how he's doing on growing out his mullet.

                  • Ha... Wonder what he paid for that? For the price you're better off finding an LS1 car. They can be had for $5000. You can't make an LT1 as powerful as an LS1 with the money you save buying the LT1.

So I wrote on his FB page, "yeah, I see you were really hurtin for money...lol"

(since that's why he couldn't buy the 2nd gen, according to him) Just couldn't come up with that extra 100 dollars.
