      • Bump!

Is the porsche 911 brakes a confirmed direct replacement or major modification like the vr4 brakes?

Does it matter what years?, What years? and it has to be from a manual trans right? What about the halft shaft?

                • ok im curious ... the brake line that it says from an 85 dodge... is that from the master cyl all the way back? or just the flexi line...

also : what year strut mounts do i needfrom an escort? will GT struts get me the same drop , or is the front drop on a gt because of the motor...?

                  • I believe it is all the 3rd gen escorts that came with the larger strut shafts, hence the larger top hats. I'm about to find it out myself, planning to use probe struts and Escort springs with top hats

Also, I'm pretty sure you can upgrade your front brakes to 11 inch brakes by using 1st gen 929 rotors and mazda 323 GTR front calipers. The problem is finding a set of these.

                    • You're better off just putting on the Mazda6 brakes and calipers, direct bolt on as discused in the 2.5 tech forum.

                      • my concern with a brake upgrade is my 14" steelies...

monox : what size wheels were on the probe you swapped the brackets and rotors for?

also : what years did you use when ordering parts , or scavenging parts?

im thinking of grabbing some brackets from a j/y and some rotors , and pads as soon as i have the loot for my brakes...

                          • Please compile this!

OK guys I thought I would dig this one out from the grave and ask a request from some volunteer member that would like to read through it and compile everything into one new thread and request it to be a sticky. I am sure that since the last post here there have been new discoveries.

Add to the list 90-92 Mazda 3.0L 929 side plug fuel injectors. They pop right into our rails and I am sure they flow more since they are for a 3.0L. They are green top injectors. They are a direct fit to include the aluminum retaining caps. All are a direct swap with no modifications neccessary other than splicing in the plugs.

I have several sets that I would like to get flow tested. Is there anybody with a flow tester that would volunteer to flow test them so we can post up the results? I also got the plugs from them and I intend to adapt them into a direct plug-in harness.

                            Reference:

You know how the Rear sway bar endlinks from a Nissan Altima fit our cars, and they are cheaper as well as a better design?

Or how the front upper strut mounts from a 97+ Ford Escort are an almost direct swap and offer an immediate 3/4" Drop?

Or how 2G front struts on a 1G lower it as well?

I believe there is a rumor that Jeff Jeske stuck Escort Transmission internals into a 2G Case with success.....

What about how Porsche 911 carrera brakes are direct fit on a 2G (twin pot!)....

You know, things like this......where would it go, so we could add to it all the DIY fun stuff..................
ok so here i sit at work bored as piss...and stumble upon this thread and poof there's travis talking about a rumor about zx2 trans internal in a 2g case...
WELL guess what those internal are in a 2g case which is in my MX-3 right as i type...pretty neat...i read up on this internal swap and there is a difference in gearing and final drive depending on the year of the escort....

i know the older toyota corolla's like 95 or so the MAF fits into the 1g pgt's i know this for a fact...JY swap

                              • 97 and up Mazda 626 2.0L 4 Cyl. FS cars have the same exact 30mm SLA's that the KLG4 has in them. It just has two cylinders less so you have to find two cars to get a full set of SLA's. But I measured and checked all dimensions and they are the identical units! I also haven't checked but it looks like the 36-1 harmonic balancer from them might fit. I would have to check the diameter of the bore and check the toothed ring for correct alignment or if it can be re-positioned to the same degree as the KL piece.
