Dragonballs, (haha, sorry, mate) I don't plan on boosting. Just a reliable KL in my daily driven P5. I've already got all the wiring harnesses and ECU's so I would rather just use what I have than spend any more money on even more wiring. And I checked thePopes build thread. He's running a boosted DE.

E-Lew, they do have P&P MS, that's what Dub is doing for his turbo Miata (not that I'd expect you to keep up on it, lol). Since so many guys run MS on KL's, it shouldn't be hard to get a base map to at least get it to a tuner. You could probably take it to the guys at B3R, since Marlon is always talking about them. Just ideas, albeit more expensive ideas..

Depends on what MS setup you want to run..and you can tune it yourself, or have someone tune it. It is a simple standalone to learn and tune. And yes, base maps are available for the KL..John Kessler - 'The Original Mayonnaise'

Hmm, just doing some quick browsing they look to be about $600+. I honestly don't want to spend that much. I'll just attempt to use the KL47 parts and wiring harness I already have.
The big question I'm still searching for an answer about is if the KL47 or KLK1 ECU's absolutely won't work with my 5-speed.1993 MX6 LS

I think since you are 5speed you dont need to worry about your ecu set up not working. If you were auto then you would have to worry about if/when the car would shift. Other members have swapped over the MAF stuff and drive their 5spd cars with no problems other than a check engine code or two for trans sensors that arent there but nothing that affected driving.Originally posted by Lewis7789 View PostHmm, just doing some quick browsing they look to be about $600+. Hey guys. Well the motor is in and 90% of everything else is ready to go but I'm still not getting spark.
I've got a 95' wiring harness and KL47 ECU and disty on the motor. I've got power running from the fuse block to the disty, and fuel injector clips. The starter is turning the motor over but I'm not getting spark. Boo...
Any ideas? I would greatly appreciate any help. I can post my wiring later tonight.

so you have what year ECU and a 95 harness? if the KL47 ECU is OBD2 then the car wont get spark because sensors are missing... 95 was the last year for OBD1

I've got an OBD2 1995 KL47 ECU. My motor didn't come with a crank position sensor. I bought a crank underdrive pulley and did the modification to the housing (just trimming) and noticed the directions said to remove or cover the sensor. But I didn't have a sensor, just a plastic plug.
And my knock sensor is also a one wire sensor (with a shield "wire" for grounding) on the motor but the Milly harness has a two wire setup. I was hoping to simply swap out the wiring and was under the impression the motor will at least start. But it looks like I'll just have to pull the intake mani and buy a new knock sensor ($130).
JK, what do you mean crank pulley on? All the pulleys are on but like I said, I don't have the sensor. Is that what you meant?
I just tapped in the knock sensor wiring from my JDM harness that came with the motor into the Milly harness and hooked up the KLK1 ECU that came with the motor. Still nothing. I've got a crank position sensor from a P5 coming tonight (free $) so I'm going to see if that will work.

Okay. Just to clarify though, the instructions didn't say remove it or anything. Just that I noticed I don't have one. That could be the culprit. I'll try that and cross my fingers. Thanks a lot guys. I'll keep this post updated for sure.1993 MX6 LS

Just a little update guys. The motor has been in for about a week and is running well. I'm going to change the oil and tranny fluid soon here then probably swap to my UR underdrive pulley. Great little motor and sound super mean. heh-heh

Props to another KL Protege! Looks like a nice, clean install too. What exhaust are you running with it? Can you fit standard headers on a KL in a Protege?
