^ are you using a stock mx6 or probe radiator? cause these dont typically have any cooling issues at all.

I'm using the factory probe radiator in my car, no heating issues.

        I am also turbocharged.

Do your fans come on at the normal temp? The stock cooling system is pretty efficient so maybe you have a cooling problem.

Any obstructions in front Of the radiator? Besides that sweet fmic. How bad is heat soak on your car feel?

im betting hes using the stock protege radiator. cause if you use the probe one with the probe burp tank, it def wouldnt be having any cooling issues. unless he had something else wrong like a bad tstat or air in the system.

Sorry for the late reply, I used a new stock 1996 MX-6 radiator with the burp tank and a probe temp sensor and fan relay for 2 slim fans (10" and 12"). I didn't have any cooling issues during the summer.

I'm using the Protege radiator because it was the only way we could fit the AC. No issue what so ever. :knocksonwood:

Can a mod please move this to the lounge area?

We don't need this thread in the KL performance section. It was a newbie mistake on my behalf. Thanks!

Bought it as a project. not sure where the radiator came from could be factory but it appears to almost boil out of it to the burp tank. running with ms1 so I set the fans to kick on at 150 but it still hits over 220 if i'm not careful. does not maintain temp even at idle. This was when it was 90 out during the summer... I think I like the mx6 idea any recommendations for fans? Brands or stock? Mine or after market and don't seem to pull much air and running a 10 and 12. No a/c right now. Thinking about going with electric PS pump also... Mine isn't hooked up...saw a new mx6 radiator on Ebay for 55$ mx6 any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Got any pics of the rad you have? Thermostat still installed? The stock ECU doent kick the fan on until about 215. I noticed in the past that if you try kicking the fans on early it wont cool down any quicker because the 190 degree thermostat wont get a chance to open fully. Try setting the fans to come on at between 200 and 210 and see what happens.

just swap a stock probe or mx6 radiator, and fan set up in. no reason to spend the extra money on aftermarket fans, as the stock ones are more then up to the task.

Yeah, the only reason I have slim fans is because my good friend was selling them for a great deal to me. I tried using a Griffin aluminum radiator from Summit but it's tough to find one that will work with the inlet/outlet configuration and the angle of where the alternator is. I might give it another try when the ZE goes in.

Wayne Nonnemaker said when Team Shalen raced MX-6's back in the day he said to keep an eye on the cooling too.

Here is how we ran the stock rad in Andy's P5. Just took some creative thinking. Zero overheating issues of any kind with just a stock GT fan cut in half.
