OBX headers to the Corksport Power series P5 catback with a resonator and no cat.

Took some footage today, I'll work on getting it up tomorrow.

Thanks again for making that little video, Wes. It turned out great. I can't wait to make a better, longer one with more footage and some racing in it (track and street).

Little update; the KLDE I had in my P5 is now in my Millenia (fittingly enough) and I'm buying a true ZE very soon for the P5. With some bolts on, MS and a good tune I'm shooting for 200whp.

I miss my P5 so much. She's sitting in the garage this winter while I horde parts for her. haha

Here's some dyno info from the JDM DE when it was in the P5.
          -Year 2002
          -Make and Model Mazda Protege5
          -Transmission MTX
          -Mileage on engine ~30k miles
-Type of engine JDM KLDE (Millenia curve neck) running like a 1995 USDM Millenia (KL47 ECU and MAF)
-Power mods only custom air intake w/ K&N filter, butterfly'ed TB, knife edged IM, Outlaw thermal spacers on IM and TB, wrapped OBX headers, CorkSport catless exhaust, Aasco lightweight flywheel, UR uderdrive pulley, ClutchMasters stage 1 clutch
-Other misc parameters 68degrees and 49% humidity, 18" GramLights wheels, 4th gear pull
          -Brand of Dynomometer DynoJet
-Elevation of the city where you dyno'd ~1050'

          168.9whp
          160lbs wtq

^ He has a DE so no flat top pistons, pretty good number for a DE tho.

Yeah, it's a DE so no flat top pistons. I pulled the heads to make sure when I replaced the head gaskets when I thought one was blown. But it does have the KL-01 cams. And I port matched the heads for the IM.

Like I said in the dyno info, it wasn't running like a standard DE though. It had a KL47 ECU and MAF so basically like an OBD2 Milly motor. But a healthy one indeed. It's still running great in my DD Millenia.

Lewis - I've always loved that car man. It's actually kinda what inspired me to try the KL and ATX in my P5. Alas - I needed to man-up and get a man-pedal (despite my wants....lol).
KL swapped Protege5. ATX > MTX swapped. Custom 2.5" exhaust, Probe GT Tein Basic Damper Coilovers, 18x7.5 Mazdaspeed6 wheels w/ 215/35/18 tires. Forged internals, MS2 v3.0, and a bunch of boost!!

                        this car sounds amazing

also with the kl47 ecu that is obd2 correct ?

did you keep you obd2 port working and did you end up with any check engine lights.

i am swapping my 2001 mazda miata and i have to have my obd2 working and no cel to pass emissons.

as of right now i am trying to decide which ecu i should go with and wiring harness.

i need an obd2 with a manual trans. will this ecu work for me ? because i will scour a few junk yards haha

Lewis, this is Andy (Slotege5_2003) on the Mazda board. Good choice on the full ZE. I love mine. Keep me posted on the progress. I'm interested in what you think on the motor differences once you get it running.
