I either remove the sub frame or the gas tank to replace the Lateral arms. Yeah, I know I have to get an alignment that's another reason why I'm waiting for all the parts so I don't have to do it more than once.

I got anxious so I went to the junk yard and found a PGT and took the rear apart and left all the parts there because I had no need for them.
I know, kind of a waist of time but it's also relax time for me.

you shouldn't need to. i've had to replace one of mine and i never had to remove either.

nice to see all of the work you're putting into the car. i recently replaced my control arms, inner tie rod ends, and outers. had fun with it, but found out i had to replace the right side rack boot and the passenger side axle. the axle was the kicker because that thing was only recently installed. turned out the joint itself was bad. eek.

Sadly no updates yet. I'm still waiting for one more rear strut mount and the funds for a new rack n pinion.

Didn't know that, I guess I got exited removing things. I might end up removing it so I can put a fresh coat of paint on it.

                  It has begun...

I wasn't able to go to the ACH cruse because more of my bushings gave away and didn't want an accident. You will see once I get done and post up the pictures.

Actually I did this on my mx6, when i was changing the front lateral links, the way Mazda put the bolt is that it slides out and hits the tank. What i did was I cut the bolt, bought another one from the hardware store (12mm x 1.25) and put the bolt in the other way so the nut would be facing the tank side. I have no idea why mazda or ford did not do it that way

I just took the subframe out, it needed a fresh coat of paint. But it is a good thing you reminded me to put the bolt in backwards, just in case I have to chane something in the future.

It was some day yesterday, took all the parts of and some of which gave me trouble.

The first time I ever took the wheel knuckle off, I saw that the previous owner had tried to take the nut off but stripped it. I could not do anything with it so I got my drill and got to work didn't have to deal with that problem this time.

This is one of my lower control arms, I think it's bad. I could pull the center out by hand. The other one wasn't as bad as this one but still bad.

As for taking that bushing out, I decided not to use the torch and instead just got a socket and hammered away.

The biggest problem I had was in the rear of the car. First, the end links would not come off so I just left them attached. The rear spindle has a big bolt that holds the lateral arms, which I could not get out. What I did with the first one was to cut the bolt in pieces so I can remove the arms from the spindle. Once I did that, I tried to take the bolt out but nothing. So I decided to heat the bolt and out it came with the hammer.

The other side was easier because I just got the torch to heat it and out it came.

The last thing I did was put a fresh coat of paint on some of the parts and called it a day. I improvised with my ladder and some coat hangers as my drying rack.

Today is all about putting the new parts back together, should be easy enough.

Keep up the good work. This is inspiring.

And thanks for being courteous in the junk yard. I work at one, and trust me, a lot more people say they practice good etiquette than actually do.

Okay, I finally finished, for the most part. The sway bar gave me the most trouble because some of the bolts were too big and I wasn't able to tighten them. Also the AWR swaybar does not fit King's lateral arms, so I am going to see if I can use an extra pair of adjustable links for the mean time until I get the funds for the correct swaybar. Other than that, all I have to do is the allignment.

                              Here are some pictures

                                Excellent job man.

This is one of those things that I've been looking at doing, collecting all the suspension parts, and soon it will all begin. Waiting for a 3 day weekend. Excellent work.
