That makes no sense. If people can have a parade to celebrate being Irish, why can't people have a parade to celebrate being part of the GBLT community?

Not everyone celebrates Christmas... So why does Macys spend Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars to Broadcast the Christmas Parade on International Television?

you post pictures of your lovers on here or people you think are hot (notice none of the gay people here have? hmm), kiss them and hold their hands in public, etc etc. You "show" your straightness much more than gays do.

Again, the irish celebrating being irish is not directly proportional to a the gay/lesbian celebrating their sexuality in as much as the hippies did in the 60's. Those sesual pride or freedom parades were looked down upon also and had not direct corralation to an irish pride parade, right? i mean am i missing something here? Race is race and sexual preference IS sexual preference. A race pride parade is not the same as a sex pride parade... unless i'm missing something here.

Because this nation was originally raise as a christian nation with freedoms of religion that were christian based. So trying to fade out a national/commercial event such as Macy's parade is probably not going to happen just yet. but again the issue comes up: A religious parade is not the same as a sexual preference pride parade.

I'm trying to understand. No trying to be difficult but it doesn't seem logical.

The Macys Parade has not been around since the birth of this country - so that is a moot argument. I was "orginally" raised in a Heterosexual, Christian household. After only 19 years, 4 months and 12 days, I am neither. After 200 years, this country is not a "Christian" country, nor is it a "Heterosexual" country. It is a country of many faiths and ways of life.

A Christmas Parade is not the SAME as a Gay Pride Parade, but it IS the same concept. Celebrating who/what you are. When people have 4th of July Parades, they are Celebrating being Americans. Its not a matter of what you are celebrating - its the simple fact that you are celebrating.

I think you may still be missing the point. No one was implying that the GBLT community didn't have a right to have a parade celebrating their sexuality, some were just wondering why the GBLT community felt it necessary to have a parade specifically because of their sexuality. It just begs the question, if you are happy with your choice, what do you care who else knows? And to go out of a persons' way to make their sexual preference such a public spectacle, in all fairness, could be considered a bit over the top, especially when some members are decked out in full leather domination regalia where children might be present. Wouldn't it be better to simply relegate that particular sort of display to the privacy of ones' own home? Granted not everyone dresses like that for a GBLT parade, but if the purpose of the parade is to display pride in numbers, then does it not go without saying that each parade member is implying with their attendance that pride in one equals pride in all, equally?

It doesn't seem like anyone (with the exception of one particular PT member whose name I will respectfully omit) was denying your right to gather in number for the purpose of mutual support, or, to "shamelessly dance with a hoard of hot lesbians" either, but couldn't that just as easliy be done in a specific "private" club. I think some people, myself included, were just wondering why it was necessary to make such a public spectacle of your sexuality, besides the already stated reasoning that you simply "can". I'm sure this will probably be considered a poor analogy, but people "can" urinate in public, although it's generally considered in poor taste to do so.

Well if the simple fact is that people are celebrating then by all means celebrate. Like i said i was just curious.

BTW, you need more exposure on that camera or definately a better flash.

Id like to point out that mardi gras, which is a predominatly straight attended celebration, has just as much if not more nudity, 100% more crime and public drunkeness/unruliness (gay celebrations are minimal if not nonexistant in all those), and is pretty much just a celebration just to have a celebration. are you going to apply all your arguments to celebrations like mardi gras as well? or just keep them pointed at gay pride celebrations?

GBLT = Gay, Bi, Lesbian, Transgender.

I've always wondered about Transgender being included in that... If you are born with male genitals, and are attracted to men, and go through a sex change, you are considerd Female... So, how can a female who likes men be gay? Not hating, theres a Performer thats a Transgenderd male, and she puts on one hell of a show as Whitney.

4th of July isn't about celebrating being an American, it's a tribute to our independence. St. Patricks Day isn't about celebrating being Irish, it's a tribute to St. Patrick (it's origins are a Catholic Holiday). Christmas is a tribute to the Birth of Christ.

None of the holidays (other than Black History Month and maybe Veterans Day) are about who/what you are; they're about celebrating events, moments in history and significant people.
