I think I had it set to 3500 and it just makes sure boost is nero 0 in/hg.

I'm sure it's setting it to 0 in/Hg (or psi if you want to look at it that way) by design. I imagine in that car you don't want to build any boost while using the launch control, because it'd just blow the tires off.
Someone probably figured out what the optimal point was. For some cars it's 8 psi, some it's 5 psi, and some it's 0 psi. For example, Ryan's GN seems to leave the best at 0 psi as well. I tend to build right around 4-5 psi with my launch control, and that's PLENTY.
