  • What's the VCD Hiney? I know Ben's STi had the DCCD (driver controlled center differential), which would allow you to do a 40/60 split of the power to the front/rear tires, IIRC. I don't believe it'd let you put anymore power than that to the rear tires though.

        • I just never liked the lines of the newer foresters... I had a chance to get a 02 I think it was, I honestly don't remember now, for $1000 but idk if she still has it. It was a little rough and auto but a nice green color and woulda been sweet as a DD.

            • You can find a cheap one with a blown headgasket. Do it yourself.

That's been an idea I've had.

              • Any idea how much fun it is to pull the heads off one of those Ant? Guaranteed you're pulling the motor, at the very least...

Of course maybe you're talking about pulling the motor anyway, in which case it wouldn't matter.

                • It's easier to do it that way, but I'm inquisitive. I asked the parts guy and a tech at Romano Subaru how hard it is to do. I think it's only 2 motor mounts. It CAN be done in the car.

I'm not so sure about that....I have 2 friends that have vehicles with the boxer H4 in them. Just doing spark plugs is a damn near impossible task, because of how close the heads/valve covers are to the wheel wells. I just don't see how it'd be possible to pull one of the heads off with that little clearance, seeing as how removing the spark plug wires is an extremely difficult task...

                    • If I were to ever to do it, I'd ask them how it should be done. I'm just going by what Subaru told me.

                      • The subie dealer always says it can be done without pulling the motor. It's what they told my 2 friends as well...I just don't see how though, with the configuration of that motor.

                            • I couldn't get the valve covers off of one with the motor still bolted in. I'm sure with the motor mounts out there would be no problem. You need to remove a motor mount just the change an up-pipe on one of them

It had like 140K on it but it was kinda rusted. Really thought about picking it up but I lost contact with her.
